Liverpool have been told Kai Havertz will cost upwards of £80million should The Reds follow up in their interest of the Bundesliga midfielder, Anfield Edition understands.
Jurgen Klopp has an attacking midfielder high on his summer wishlist and Havertz, who has been scouted extensively for two years, fits the mould.
Klopp and his backroom staff are said to be keen on Havertz’s versatility in midfield and across the forward line, making him a key target.
The price tag that Bayer Leverkusen has quoted will not be entertained as things stand, and Liverpool will instead pursue other targets should they refuse to lower their valuation significantly with a fee of around £70million desired.
Havertz is also attracting attention elsewhere with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich interested in the German midfielder.
The 20-year old has been far from impressive this season, totalling just 4 goal contributions in his 21 appearances – that’s 0.19 G/A per game compared to last season’s 0.64 G/A per game.
However, a move away from Bayer could help him rediscover his form and potential.
