Italian journalist Nico Schira has stated this morning that AC Milan have become “insistent” on signing Dejan Lovren this summer in order to boost their defence.
Schira claims that the Rossoneri have already made contact with Lovren’s representatives in order to push through a move, presumably believing Lovren’s experience can help bolster their defensive ranks.
Previous reports have said that Lovren was Milan’s second choice target behind Ozan Kabak, yet with the Stuttgart defender having now officially joined Schalke, they seem to have reignited their interest in the Croatian instead.
Liverpool would want £25m for any parties interested in signing Lovren this summer, with Jurgen Klopp reluctant to lose the 29-year-old.
With Van Dijk firmly established as first-choice, and with Gomez and Matip vying to partner him, Lovren may decide to move on this summer in order to secure regular playing time; should a £25m bid come in, Lovren could be set for the exit door after 5 years at Anfield.
