It was a straightforward win for Liverpool this evening as they put 6 goals past Tranmere Rovers in their annual pre-season friendly at Prenton Park.
While Rhian Brewster deservedly picked up most of the plaudits for his goal scoring exploits in the first-half, supporters were also suitably impressed by Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever after the break.
The 17-year-old put in a great shift at right-back; not only was he defensively solid, but his marauding run forward played a key part in Bobby Duncan’s goal.
Fans on Twitter were keen to hype up Hoever’s performance, in what won’t be his first outing for the Reds during this pre-season:
An immensely talented young defender, from initial signs Hoever has all the attributes to be a future star for Liverpool; whether playing backup to Alexander-Arnold comes too soon in the upcoming campaign could be an issue however.
