Liverpool have officially made a €45m bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to a report from Portuguese publication Correio de Manha.
Despite rumoured interest from Manchester United, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, the outlet states Liverpool are the only side to have made an official bid for the attacking midfielder, who seems destined to leave the Jose Alvalade Stadium this summer.
However, the offer of €45m would be significantly lower than the €70m Sporting chiefs apparently want for Fernandes’ signature, especially considering he is thought to have a €100m release clause inserted in his contract, as per a report from The Mirror.
Fernandes had a stellar campaign for Sporting last season, scoring 32 goals and contributing 18 assists, and his arrival would certainly add attacking impetus to the midfield options at Klopp’s disposal.
A few weeks ago when writing for his blog, De Cadeirinha, Fernandes admitted he is a big admirer of Liverpool’s style of play, stating how he is a fan of the “intense football” they play with; this would suggest that the Portuguese international would certainly be keen on a move to Anfield should the opportunity arise.
