Trabzonspor have rejected Liverpool’s opening offer of €10m for their goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to a report from Turkish website Futbol Arena today.
Cakir is viewed as the ideal backup to Alisson by Liverpool’s scouts, with Simon Mignolet allowed to leave this summer due to his wish of getting first-team football.
Trabzonspor are keen to win the league title next season and are keen on keeping their best players, with Cakir amongst them. Liverpool will need to increase their bid substantially to have any hope of signing the 23-year-old this summer.
Having recently made his debut for the Turkish national team, alongside 25 appearances for Trabzonspor last season, it remains to be seen if he’d be willing to come to Anfield, where he’d likely be reduced to appearances in the domestic cup competitions.
