Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan has stated that Liverpool are one of a number of clubs to have scouted Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, as per an article from Sky Sports.
Van der Kraan has named Liverpool, alongside Tottenham, Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle, as having scouts present at the Amsterdam Arena to watch the midfielder in action; the 22-year-old is also thought to prefer a move to the Premier League over Serie A or the Bundesliga.
Out of all the Ajax players being linked with a move away, van der Kraan believes it is van de Beek that is most likely to exit the Dutch side this summer, while describing him as “the perfect backup for many clubs”.
Having really shot to prominence last season after starring in an Ajax side that caught the attention of Europe by reaching the Champions League semi-final, van de Beek was instrumental in their European and domestic success, contributing 17 goals and notching 13 assists.
At still only 22, along with the engine and guile that would make him perfectly suited to Klopp’s system, it’ll be intriguing to see if the Reds beat off the competition and are able to bring van de Beek to Anfield this summer.
