Despite proving on multiple occasions to be an elite level goalkeeper since his £65m arrival from Roma in the summer, an article from The Daily Mail has revealed that since the turn of the year, Alisson has the worst save percentage out of any goalkeeper in the Premier League.
Although he has hardly been culpable for many of the goals conceded, with the absences of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren making the back-line substantially less stable, it is still a cause for concern that he has conceded 7 out of the 11 shots he has faced in 2019.
Not only is this more goals conceded than any of the other ‘Big Six’ keepers this year, but his 36.4% of shots saved is lower than any other player in the league.
With only 1 clean sheet in 5 league matches, Liverpool have looked poor from a defensive standpoint recently, with defending of set-pieces against West Ham on Monday looking a real worry.
In spite of his record, there won’t be many Reds doubting Alisson’s quality and the fact he remains a clear upgrade on both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.
