Ben Woodburn looks set to return to Liverpool following a disappointing loan spell with Sheffield United, according to a report from Wales Online this afternoon.
Woodburn has endured a nightmare spell in the Championship since his loan switch back in the summer, making only 7 appearances for the Blades, with the majority coming from the bench.
At one point the Welsh international was even sent back to Liverpool to get some much needed game time in an U23’s match — highlighting how underwhelming his spell at Bramall Lane has been.
Although he is currently recovering from an ankle injury, it is highly probable that he will be sent away again on loan upon his return to Merseyside.
Despite rumours that Klopp could be open to letting Woodburn go on a permanent deal, he squashed these recently by stating that “Ben is still an unbelievably young boy” and that “we will never lose him”.
Woodburn’s career has severely stagnated ever since be broke Michael Owen’s record to become Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer at 17 years and 45 days back against Leeds United in November 2017.
Although there is hope Woodburn can revitalise his promising career, his next loan spell needs to be much more productive.
