Liverpool are apparently keen on making a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes this month, according to a report from Portuguese publication A Bola yesterday evening.
According to the report, Klopp is keen to boost his midfielder ranks and is contemplating obtaining Fernandes’ signature; he is set to face stiff competition from Merseyside rivals Everton for any deal however.
This isn’t the first time Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old as rumours intensified last season about a potential move after Fernandes managed an impressive 16 goals and 20 assists last season, although he eventually stayed put in his home land.
The Sporting playmaker has continued this vein of form into this campaign and has already notched 14 goals and 9 assists in all competitions thus far and could provide the attacking impetus from midfield that Liverpool often require.
Fernandes is thought to have a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave the Estádio José Alvalade for around €100m, yet it is thought Sporting could be willing to sell at the €40m mark.
Liverpool are unlikely to make any midfield reinforcements this window, with Klopp playing down talks of any business but this could certainly be one to watch for the summer.
