Liverpool exited the FA Cup in the early stages once again last night with defeat against Wolves; although the majority of the Reds were well below par, fans were suitably impressed with one stand-out debutant: Ki-Jana Hoever.
Coming on for the injured Dejan Lovren after just six minutes of action, the 16-year-old came on to become Liverpool’s youngest ever player in the competition and didn’t at all look out of place amongst his more experienced team mates.
Despite a few nerves early on, the former Ajax academy starlet performed admirably, with a moment where he won the ball to play it out from the back and contribute to the attack in the second-half being a particular highlight.
Liverpool fans were highly impressed by the Dutchman on Twitter and he is clearly viewed as a defender with huge potential:
Hoever winning the ball back and dribbling past players. Something we’ve missed from our midfielders. Such confidence from the 16 year old. pic.twitter.com/VcbrxTGSvE

The standout player for tonight by some distance was Hoever. Looked nervous as expected but settled into the game, completed 2/2 of his tackles and didn’t get dribbled past. Solid debut for the 16 year old, the future is bright for him. pic.twitter.com/hYkmuJ9czF

Ki-Jana Hoever looked very bright for somebody so young. If he continues to work hard then he’s got a big future ahead of him.

Based on last night, Hoever looks a real prospect and already highly rated by Klopp, expect to see more of the defender in the future, although I think many fans are still trying to get over the fact he was born in 2002.
