Liverpool claimed a win in the most dramatic of circumstances against Everton in the Merseyside Derby this afternoon but it could have been a very different story if it weren’t for Alisson.
One defining moment in the first half though came in Liverpool’s favour, where a point-blank save from Alisson prevented Andre Gomes from opening the scoring, which was followed up by a clearance off the line from Joe Gomez to keep the scoreline level.
Fans were quick to praise Alisson on Twitter for what was a monumental save and gives further evidence of him proving to be worth every penny since his £65m move from Roma in the summer.
Alisson – WOW, just WOW! Absolute bargain!

Alisson’s save to deny Gomes has already been lauded by fans as the save of the season, while he managed to get another excellent touch on the ball to stop Walcott scoring moments later.
In what was arguably his finest game since his arrival, Alisson was vital to Liverpool’s maintaining a clean sheet and stopping Everton claiming a first win at Anfield since 1999.
For anyone doubting Klopp’s decision to spend £65m on his services this summer, Alisson has gone a long way to justifying this decision — for fans it’s great to finally have a dependable figure in the sticks.
