Liverpool are apparently set to bid for Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks when the transfer window reopens in a few weeks time, according to a report from news outlet The Wistle yesterday.
Liverpool have struggled in midfield at times this season, with a lack of creativity a glaring issue, and Klopp views Brooks as the ideal signing to spark some life into the team after his fine season thus far with the Cherries.
The 21-year-old has adjusted perfectly to life in the Premier League since his £11.5m move from Sheffield United in the summer and has been instrumental in Bournemouth’s high-flying start, scoring 3 goals and providing an assist thus far.
With Adam Lallana failing to meet the standards this year, while James Milner isn’t getting any younger, Brooks could be the perfect man to replace them in the squad.
The Wales international is believed to have a £20m release clause in his contract, which currently runs until 2022, and Liverpool may opt to pay the clause before other clubs enquire about his signature.
Both fans (and Klopp) should have an opportunity to watch Brooks in closer detail when Liverpool travel to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
