Liverpool are apparently eyeing a move for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Thorgan Hazard when the transfer window opens in January, according to a report yesterday from Liga Financial.
Hazard, who happens to be the younger brother of Chelsea star Eden, has been in stunning form so far this season for the Bundesliga side, with 11 goals and 6 assists in all competitions, and Klopp views him as the ideal player to bolster his attacking ranks during the title race.
Any attempt to bring the 25-year-old to Anfield could prove to be complicated, with Hazard attracting a great amount of attention across Europe for his performances thus far — rivals Everton and Manchester United are thought to be the other two sides most in contention for his signature.
Per the report, the Belgium international’s contract is set to expire with The Foals in 2020, while he has a release clause inserted in his contract for approximately €30m — seemingly a bargain for a player of Hazard’s calibre.
Although not blessed with a huge amount of pace, Hazard is technically proficient, while his goal scoring record this season is testament to what he could bring should he arrive on Merseyside to provide competition for the likes of Mane and Salah.
However, many in Germany believe it remains Hazard’s dream to return to former club Chelsea, who sold him for €8m back in 2015 and reunite with brother Eden, while proving Stamford Bridge chiefs were wrong to sanction his sale three years ago.
