With yesterday’s news that Sadio Mane has joined Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah in committing their long-term futures to Liverpool until 2023, CIES Football have revealed their combined transfer value today: a staggering £391m — over 4 times the £97m they were worth when they first signed with the club.
CIES value Firmino, Mane and Salah at £129m, £109m and £153m respectively, with these figures coming as little surprise after the huge impact they had together last season, where they combined to take Liverpool to the Champions League Final as arguably the finest attacking unit in Europe.
The trio managed to break the record for the most goals by three teammates in a single Champions League campaign (each managed 10 goals), while their fluid pace, movement and ability in front of goal were key to Jurgen Klopp’s scintillating football last season.
While it hasn’t been quite at that level thus far these past few months, with Firmino in particular struggling in front of goal, knowing the levels of cohesion between them, it surely won’t be long until they’re clicking again.
Having them all sign contract extensions in the past 6 months will come as more than welcome news to Liverpool fans, while also proving that Anfield is no longer merely a stepping stone in a player’s career.
