Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed that despite currently being happy at Liverpool, he has not ruled out a return to Italy, specifically former club Inter Milan, in the near future, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport via 90Min.
“I had some good times there”, Shaqiri said of his time at the San Siro.
“I couldn’t criticise Inter Milan ever. A lot of players joined in that winter, including Podolski, Kovacic, myself, and a lot of changes were ongoing”.
“I had great fun in Serie A, and the country is amazing. I’m happy at Liverpool, but you can never say never in football.”
Shaqiri suffered a torrid 6 month spell at Inter, scoring only 3 goals after his much anticipated arrival from Bayern Munich, so it’s understandable as to why he wants to go and prove himself again in Italy.
However, the Swiss has already proved to be a shrewd signing for Klopp since his £13.5m move from Stoke City in the summer and although he’s only played a bit-part role thus far, his impact has been enough to show he can be an important figure from now until the end of the season.
