Leon Bailey has admitted he is aware of interest in him from other European clubs, including Liverpool, but Bayer Leverkusen apparently have no plans to sell the winger in January, according to a report today from the Metro.
Bailey has revealed that Liverpool are just one Premier League club chasing his signature, with interest also being expressed by Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City; although he could leave in the summer, chances he leaves in January seem very slim.
Leverkusen’s sporting director, Jonas Boldt has confirmed that despite knowing “Leon will eventually leave … a winter transfer is out of the question. He also knows that he has our backing’.
The 21-year-old has no plans to leave the BayArena anytime soon either, believing it ‘is the right moment to be at Bayer Leverkusen’.
‘They are a tremendous club with so much history’, Bailey said.
‘A lot of good players have come from there; they can get into the Champions League and are always doing well. So why not them?’
‘It was the perfect move for me and I’m happy I made it. My focus isn’t really on moving anywhere yet.’
With 12 league goals last season and a winger with skill and pace in abundance, the Jamaican would certainly be a sensible signing for Klopp and would suit his system perfectly.
You have to hope interest is still present when he eventually becomes available.
