'Garbage', 'Really Bad' — Fans Slam One Liverpool Player for Performance Against Arsenal

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Arsenal at the Emirates this evening, a result which was probably fair in the circumstances. The Reds never looked convincing throughout, with a lack of potency in attack and a sloppy, ineffective midfield, and it was little surprise when Alexandre Lacazette fired past Alisson to equalise late on.

However, one man was the target of ire from the fans for their performance in the game: Fabinho.

After two very impressive displays against Red Star and Cardiff, it was disappointing to see Fabinho so below par against the Gunners — particularly in the first half.

He gave the ball away constantly, timed challenges poorly and failed to dictate the tempo of the game like he should have as the holding midfielder, making it far too easy for Arsenal to gain a foothold in the game with their movement and passing.

Fans seemed to be in agreement on Twitter, with many slating Fabinho for his display:

Obviously Twitter was also full of comparisons between Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, with many believing the Brazilian’s performance today emphasised the value the captain brings to the team, especially when up against Top Six opposition.

Even though he was far from his best, with the change in system possibly being responsible, we’ve still seen enough from Fabinho to know he has all the attributes required to be a top-class defensive midfielder and hopefully this evening was just a minor blip.
