Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan is nearing a move to Serie A outfit Cagliari, according to Di Marzio.
The two sides are in advanced negotiations and are nearing an agreement in the region of €2 million.
The Italian transfer window closes in less than 24 hours, meaning Cagliari will need to thrash out a deal immediately.
The Estonian international wants to leave for regular game time after falling down the pecking order at Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp, understandably, wants Klavan to stay to ensure squad depth. However, the German boss understands Klavan’s desire to leave in search for more game time.
Klopp rates Klavan as an exceptional professional and wanted the centre back to extend his contract. But, it appears he will be moving on imminently.
Van Dijk, Lovren, Matip and Gomez all appear to be ahead of Klavan in the defensive line and with youngster Nat Phillips boosting his reputation at the club, Klopp should really have enough cover at the back.
