Nigerian international Moses Simon has recently spoken about Liverpool’s interest in him. The Reds have been linked with the pacey winger during the transfer window as they look to add depth in the wide areas.
Last month, the Liverpool Echo, reported that the Reds were interested in the winger and a bid was possible. The KAA Gent winger scored 6 goals last season in 29 league appearances for the club. He was in line to make the Nigerian World Cup squad but a late injury towards the end of the season shattered his World Cup dream.
Simon has returned to pre-season training with Gent and provided an update on his future. The winger spoke to AOI Football and claimed:
“Well, for now, I’m still a player of KAA Gent; obviously, there was interest from Liverpool but nothing is concrete for now. I’m currently in Holland with the rest of the squad and we are getting ready for the new season. We have a game against PAOK in two days; hopefully, I might play in that one.”
It remains to be seen whether the Reds do in fact make a concrete offer for the Nigerian international. However, with recent reports of a deal for Stoke winger Xherdan Shaqiri in the pipeline, Simon’s move to Liverpool may not materialize.
If a deal does materialise, you can certainly expect highly rated youngster Harry Wilson to be sent out on loan.
