Liverpool academy goalkeeper Kamil Grabara has exclusively revealed to Anfield Edition that the treatment towards Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach, John Achterberg, is unfair.
Grabara, who yesterday started against Manchester United in front of 100,000 fans, also admitted to feeling sorry for Achterberg.
“I feel so sorry [for Achterberg] when people start moaning about him,”
“In my opinion he is doing his best for us.”
Achterberg joined Liverpool in 2009 and was appointed first-team goalkeeping coach in the summer of 2011.
He has worked under 5 Liverpool managers and is highly regarded by Jurgen Klopp. The Dutchman played a crucial part in Alisson’s transfer to Liverpool.
Kamil Grabara has praised Achterberg for his professionalism and maintained his belief that he can still learn from him at Liverpool.
“He is a top coach and a top person as well so its a pleasure to work with him, as well as the rest of the boys.”
“I have learned so much from him and he, as a coach with desire, still has a lot to offer me in the future.”
