Bruno Fernandes has put Liverpool on red alert after attempting to terminate his own contract at Sporting Lisbon, which would make him available on a free this summer.
Last month, a gang of hooded Sporting fans attacked senior squad members after storming the clubs training facilities, leaving several squad members nursing injuries.
In light of the attack, Fernandes, as well as other squad members including Gelson Martins, have asked for the termination of their contracts, Record report.
An ever-present in midfield, Fernandes has made a great contribution from the middle of the park, tallying up 16 goals and 9 assists in all competitions this season.
The 23-year-old even managed to secure himself four assists against Maritimo in a 5-0 win earlier in the season.
Fernandes has an initial release clause of £87million within his contract but could now be available on a free.
After Liverpool’s failure in their pursuit of Nabil Fekir, Fernandes wouldn’t be a bad alternative.
