Liverpool are thought to be leading the chase to sign Cork City starlet and centre-back Sean McCloughlin, according to website TEAMtalk.
The 21-year-old only moved to the current Irish Premier Division champions 12 months ago, amid interest from Premier League clubs last summer.
Liverpool are just one of several teams interested in acquiring his services, with Everton, Newcastle and Middlesbrough also all reportedly keen on the versatile defender.
McCloughlin only has 6 months left on his contract with Cork City and the club are already thought to be preparing for his exit, having moved to sign former Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace man Damien Delaney.
If the defender doesn’t leave Cork City in this transfer window, it’s worth noting he’d be available on a free in January.
