Champions League winners, Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Brazilian club Santos for the transfer of highly-rated teenager Rodrygo Goes.
The 17-year-old will sign a long-term deal with Los Blancos before being loaned back to Santos for the 2018/2019 season.
Champions League finalists, Liverpool were also interested in the player according to Rodrygo’s agent. Nick Arcuri, the teenager’s agent spoke to Esporte Interativo and mentioned,
“We had offers from Liverpool, PSG, Barcelona, but they did not reach what Santos asked for. Fifteen days ago, Madrid came behind me, they met with the president and made their proposal, reaching the value that Santos always wanted.”
He further went on to add, “Last week, the player did his medical exams with a Spaniard after Santos gave the green light. The agreement is that he stays [at Santos] until June 30, 2019.”
Rodrygo has played 10 games for Santos this season and has scored 5 goals. He recently scored an impressive hat-trick against Vitoria at the beginning of the month.
Due to work permit regulations in England, it would have taken a few years before Rodrygo would have been eligible to make his debut with the Reds.
