Alberto Moreno will be offered a contract extension at the end of the season, Anfield Edition understands.
The Spanish full-back started the season as the Reds’ number one left back, but after suffering an ankle injury in December he lost his position to summer arrival Andy Robertson who has gone onto establish himself as a firm fan favourite.
Despite losing his starting berth to the Scot, Moreno still looks set to extend his current four-year stay on Merseyside. The former Seville man’s current deal expires next summer so it is also possible that the club have seeked to preserve his value within the transfer market.
Liverpool are also looking to tie down the future’s of several other first team players including those of the frightening front three.
The long-term future of Roberto Firmino has already been secured with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane set to be offered new deals, in an attempt to ward off interest from clubs such as Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Furthermore, James Milner will be offered an extension after his pivotal role in the side’s run to the Champions League final, as well as experienced centre-half Ragnar Klavan.
