Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be offered a new long term contract at Liverpool ahead of the summer.
The news comes off the back of three consecutive man of the match performances versus Manchester City (twice) and Bournemouth. Liverpool are keen to reward the 19-year old with fresh contract terms.
Alexander-Arnold will be offered a significant wage increase and is expected to agree a new contract in the summer.
Alexander-Arnold has made 22 first team appearances for Liverpool so far this season, grasping his opportunity at the expense of Nathaniel Clyne’s long term injury lay-off.
Joe Gomez has provided fierce competition at right-back for Trent this season, however, Jurgen Klopp see’s Gomez’ Liverpool future at centre-back – paving way for Alexander-Arnold.
The England U-21 international has yet to receive a senior England call up from England boss Gareth Southgate, but after getting promoted to first team training in the international break, and consistently performing week in week out, Southgate is said to be seriously considering the full back for the World Cup.
Big things have been tipped Alexander-Arnold’s way, even from the likes of Jamie Carragher. The Liverpool legend has claimed Trent could make more appearances than he did in his 16 year reign at the club.
Carragher: “Trent is going to be a Liverpool player for a long time. I honestly think he could end up making more appearances for the club than I did.
He will need to avoid injuries, but he’s only going to get better and he’s going to take a lot of shifting.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold has got a lot of expectations to live up too, including captaining Liverpool. At this rate, I see no different.
