Jurgen Klopp is planning on recalling Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan to the side, just in time for the Reds’ Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City, according to lesser-known publication AF.
The news comes after trusted Liverpool goalkeeping coach, John Achterberg, has suggested starting Bogdan after his impressive return from injury versus Middlesbrough U23’s.
Recovering from an ACL injury has proved tougher than expected for the Hungarian, but Klopp believes he is now ready for the big stage.
With the goalkeeping position all but secured by Loris Karius, Bogdan could dethrone the German given his pedigree in between the sticks.
While some may be surprised by this recall, it’s only fair for Klopp to assess ALL of his options before going into the market for a new keeper this summer.
Frequently compared to the legendary Lev Yashin, otherwise known as the Black Spider, Bogdan has god-like reflexes which come from his genetic athleticism. Much like Yashin, Bogdan is a leader of men and very vocal in organising his defence – but his greatest quality is being able to catch corner kicks 99% of the time.
With Bogdan set to return to Melwood immediately as of April the 1st, he probably won’t be in contention to face Manchester City this upcoming Wednesday as “AF” stands for April Fools.
