Match Preview: Liverpool travel to Sevilla

Game two of the European Champions League group stage sees Liverpool travel to Spain and challenge the only other team able to overtake them at this stage, Sevilla. Yes, the Reds could have been, should have been, and would have been on top, qualified and cruising through the round robin.

But that’s if the reverse fixture was not met with a Lovren error. Fortunately, the Reds form then versus their form now – Liverpool goes into this tie, firm favourites. The Reds demonstrated perfect form over the weekend. Not only because of how potent they were in front of goal, but also because of how well they did defensively with Lovren on the pitch.

The buzz around Anfield since the nailing of the Hammers and the return from international break is far better than what surrounded the club at the start of the Champions League campaign. The feeling will be complete once Klopp’s blue-eyed boy, Adam Lallana returns. Which could be in the Sevilla fixture after being named in the squad.

We have much to be excited about as our team inches away from being fully fit. Bearing in mind, Klopp will be without Nathaniel Clyne for the rest of the year. Sad yes, however, having the likes of Gomez and Trent covering in his nonattendances, has been a joy to watch.

The home team boast a home victory over Celta Vigo in their domestic campaign, but it was a hard fought match between the two Spanish teams. Sevilla’s European tourney hasn’t gone as smoothly as expected but do have the advantage of playing at home in the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Expecting it to be a great first place versus second place encounter, with high expectations of end-to-end action.

The travelling team on the other hand have the bragging rights of being the group leaders and the team to beat. Sevilla had the upper hand ahead of the competition but now face a stronger and wiser Merseyside outfit.

Considering many factors before the clash, Liverpool ticks all the right boxes. We’ve only conceded one goal in the last four fixtures, across all competitions. Which is fantastic considering the stick this team gets for leaking goals in like the Niagara Falls. Over at the other end, Liverpool’s prolific spell in front of goal complements the lift around the Reds at the moment.

Every player has put in an outstanding shift after the Spurs defeat and knocking in 13 goals in those four games makes this a worrying fixture for Sevilla. The thought of Salah who’s being in irreplaceable form, Sadio the machine running at their backline, offering Roberto Firmino so much space to dictate the frontline. It’s going to be a feast for any neutral watching in and a joy for us, knowing we can take all three point having the better and stronger side.
