Ex-Liverpool winger Suso has been linked with a return to the club following an impressive string of performances with AC Milan.
The nippy Spanish winger has certainly found his feet in Serie A with AC Milan, after leaving Liverpool – scoring six times for the club this season and earning a Spain call-up. With reports emerging from CalcioMercato that Liverpool are eyeing up the Spaniard’s €40m release clause that activates in January.
With the recent injury to Sadio Mane and Mo Salah becomingly increasingly important to the side, the lack of depth on the wings is frightening. A lengthy injury to either of these players could damage Liverpool’s season exponentially – with Suso seemingly a good competitor for a starting place.
However, Suso made just 21 appearances for the first team at Liverpool, and despite making a name for himself in the U23s, he failed to break through under Rodgers’ tenure. Joining Milan in 2016, Suso has gone on to become one of the Rossoneri’s most important players, plying his trade on the right wing.
Possessing a lethal left foot, his goal in the Milan derby showed his abilities – as he cut in from the right and thundered the ball into the net. Vincenzo Montella has shown huge faith in Suso – along with Spain manager Julen Lopetegui.
With Suso starting to attract suitors, including Real Madrid, Liverpool would have to move fast in January if they had any intention of bringing the 23-year-old back to Anfield.
