Emre Can is still no closer to signing a new deal with Liverpool despite speculation that the German international was waiting to secure Champions League football with the Reds.
He had a big part to play against Hoffenheim last Wednesday, scoring two goals and ultimately confirming Liverpool’s place in the UEFA Champions League.
Emre Can has reportedly been offered a new deal worth £100,000-a-week which would see him stay at the club until 2021. That would almost double his current wage of £55,000-a-week. However, he has stalled negotiations.
Recent reports suggest Emre Can has agreed to join Juventus in 2018, letting his contract run down so he can leave on a free.
Jurgen Klopp is a keen admirer of Can and see’s him as part of the future at LFC. Klopp is determined to nail him down to a new contract insisting that there is no “pressure”.
“It’s no secret how much I like Emre. He likes the club,” Klopp said.
“We’re in talks. There is no pressure. All is good.
“I am quite positive. Keeping good players makes sense and Emre is a good player.”
Since joining Liverpool in 2014, Emre Can has endured some all time lows as well as some all time highs. He has struggled in recent years with injuries, not allowing him to really try and cement a regular starting spot in the Liverpool side.
However, last season was arguably his best ever in his career, playing a huge role in grasping a top four spot, and scoring a goal of the season too. There is a lot more to come from the German!
Lets hope he signs that contract soon…
