At only 16 years of age, Sessegnon has really impressed in his breakthrough season in the Championship and has attracted the attention of Liverpool. It’s understood that Klopp sees Sessegnon as a long-term answer to the left back position, with Milner solidifying his first-team place for at least one more season.
Having been with the Fulham academy since he was 9, this is his first season as a first team professional, making his debut in a 1-1 draw with Leeds back in August 2016. His next appearance marked his first career goal, and meant he became the youngest scorer in Championship history.
Securing the first-team left back spot in the Championship would be a challenge for any 16-year-old, but Ryan has approached the task with aplomb. Manager Jokanovic said
Of course I am pleased with him. He has showed the right personality, he is only 16 years old but he is 100 per cent going to be at the highest level soon.
Making 24 Championship appearances this season, Sessegnon has impressed mostly going forward, scoring on 5 occasions and assisting twice. The teenager has played an important role in Fulham’s push for the playoffs, as Fulham are currently 6th in the Championship, looking to secure this with just 2 games to go.
Liverpool will look to wrap up an early deal as soon as the season draws to a close.
