Opinion piece: 5 players LFC need to sell

An opinion piece by Dembe – Guaranteed to make blood boil, I can already hear the fume

Another transfer window is due soon, and I fully expect to see 5–7 changes like there has been season after season. I don’t know how LFC manage to do it year after year, but it’s clear they like a regular turnover and enjoy paying agent fees! Jurgen Klopp has made some progress this season, but if he wants Liverpool to be a success then he needs to get rid of the following five players:

Jordan Henderson

Dejan Lovren

Daniel Sturridge

Danny Ings

Mama Sakho

I have probably lost some readers by now, but for the rest that stayed here are my reasons.

Jordan Henderson – His consistent heel injury puts pressure on the squad and the midfield. Can you build a team around someone who will never recover from the heel injury? It’s a major risk, and Klopp needs to stop accommodating him.

Dejan Lovren – He has picked up quite a few long term injuries since his debut. He also seems to have a fragile emotional side to him which causes him to overreact on and off the pitch. Can you build the team around such a liability?

Daniel Sturridge – A world class talent who is unavailable for the majority of the time. He needs to move on especially where the training methods will suit him better. He is a liability to the squad.

Danny Ings – A strange signing and even stranger when we rejected a £20M offer for him. He has had two major injuries and isn’t a first team starter. If he wants to have a successful career, he should be looking for a way out. You can’t build your team around him.

Mama Sakho – Most probably Liverpool’s best defender but he is injury prone, and Klopp doesn’t like his attitude. There is no reason to keep him in the squad, and he must think about his career. I haven’t gone into personal opinions about the player quality because that is secondary to my concerns about them. The club needs to stop throwing £$£ away and rebuild (again). I hope to have a different discussion in 2018. It’s time to stop falling for PR scams and make genuine progress with this summer’s transfer window. P.S – Why isn’t anyone calling out Michael Edwards?
