In a swift piece of summer business, Liverpool today confirmed the acquisition of 22 year old goalkeeper Loris Karius. The German signs from Mainz in a £4.7m deal and has been handed the number 1 shirt upon request.
Karius signs a five year deal, showing intent to establish himself as first choice, and will have the entire pre season to compete with Mignolet for the starting spot.
“It’s a very good feeling, and it’s an honour to play for a club like this. They’ve a special history and the fans are amazing here, so I look forward to playing at Anfield”
“I spoke to the manager and I had a good feeling after he told me what he plans to do with the club and the players.”
Kairus is likely to miss the beginning of the season, as his speculated inclusion in the German Olympic side will have him preoccupied for the preliminary three weeks of the 2016/17 term.
